I got one glimpse of him, and that was it. To get even that, I had to push past the nurse who was trying to block my way.

Garret was asleep, but I barely recognised him. His face was a mass of bruises, and his chest wasn’t much better. There were numerous bandages on various parts of his body. He was in a pretty bad way.

The doctor came in then and threatened to have me kicked off the mountain unless I left immediately. After I got them to promise that I could come back in the morning, I let them usher me out.

Garret wouldn’t hurt a fly! Why does it always seem to be the innocent ones that seem to get into trouble?
