[Chris Everington]

Soon enough, Rob turned off the main road and I started the job of navigating him to where Paul was working. It was unfortunate that Paul couldn’t knock off work early, but there isn’t a lot of construction work available in winter, so he has to grab what he can. I’ve already packed his gear in the back the car, so all he’s got with him is a change of clothes for the trip.

Driving into the new housing estate, my heart leapt at the sight of my man standing by the side of the road. I know looks aren’t everything, but when you find someone with a kind and gracious personality and looks to match, you don’t give them a chance to get away. I had to chase Paul for three months before he’d agreed to go out with me. I’ve been working on him for the six months since to make sure he never gets away. I still can’t work out what he sees in me, but he obviously sees enough to stay. I know for a fact that at least two other guys have asked him out since we got together, and he politely turned them down. They rang me up to good-naturedly abuse me for keeping him to myself. I felt so proud.
